B’s birthday

Monday, January 30th, 2006

Today was an awesome day, to celebrate B’s birthday I bought her tickets to see Woman in White. A musical by the great Andrew Lloyd Webber.

Before all of that

Most of the morning was occupied on making a nice birthday cake. B insisted on making herself a cake, so yeah a quick trip down the local supermarket for the ingredients and away we go. The cake was pretty crazy, dont think I took photos of it though (well I might have, not too sure though)*

* Actually the photos are at B’s house, I need to get them some time

So yeah, most of the day was spent making cake, after B’s dad was back from work we all went to Covent Garden to see the play.

It was pretty amazing I must say, the story was based on the novel Woman in White (obviously hehe) and it talks about… bah I’ll paste some synopsis hehe

Musical adaptation of the book opened in London’s West End, with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, lyrics by David Zippel, and book by Charlotte Jones, freely adapted from the novel. Directed by Trevor Nunn, it opened Wednesday, 15 September 2004 at the Palace Theatre in London. It gained attention for its set design, which employed projections rather than traditional scenery. The scenery tended to divide audiences and critics; some found it innovative, but Ben Brantley of The New York Times likened it to being “trapped inside a floating upscale travel magazine.” The Broadway production opened on 17th November 2005 at the Marquis Theatre to mostly negative critical reaction. This followed much publicity after the show’s star, Maria Friedman, who had created the role of Marian Halcombe in the original London production, was diagnosed with breast cancer during previews; however, she underwent treatment to return for the Broadway premiere.

Woman in white

So yeah :) the show was quite amazing, though sadly, not as good as Phantom of the Opera.

Went back home, had some of the cake (wasnt too nice tbh haha, thoguh I dont like sweet cakes anyway) and had a nice evening

I’m hopefully going to get it some time next week. The colour looks proper buff, didnt like the black on too much as it was very plain. This baby cost me £260. Pretty cheap I dare say. *Excited* hehe. B.’s birthday soon yay!

Tate Mordern

Today was quite a hectic day I must say, as soon as I woke up I had it coming, alot of travelling in and out for a silly camera. Spent a wee bit of time with B before I left, I missed her loads and needed to spend some quality time with her, she needed to do some art though.

Went to Wimbledon to see Daddy and get camera, camera first. Went to the dixons in wimbledon where they SHOULD have reserved me a z120 camera. Turns out the fuckers reserved me a BOX. A DAMN BOX, the camera was not to be found, he told me that there were 5 cameras in stock in Currys, this Currys was located 15 minutes away from Wimbledon (by Bus) but he told me I can get there in 5 minutes (which i didnt).

Went ALL the way there, only to find out that they didnt have any in stock, not even a display one, went back to Wimbledon, they also told me they didnt have a display one in stock, so i was stuck. Saw my parents for most of the time afterwards and then went to Putney to buy a camera, any camera will do, I was desperate.

Turned out that there werent many good cameras in stock at that moment, wanted a Canon one, nowt, wanted a casio one, nowt. Had to get a Casio Z110 in the end, 6 Million pixels instead of 7 *grovels*.

Anyhow, the horrible part over, now to tate modern.

The day became alot better once I went to tate modern with B, it was rather exciting….cold, but exciting. We took alot of random photos, one in particular is the blue trees.

Blue Trees

Look at the yummy trees hehe.

The museum was fun, THE JUMPING MAN WAS THERE MWAHAHAH. Lots of interesting pieces there, some of them were stupid, but some were quite good (Francis Bacon, Picasso etc etc).

We went back home and had dumplings and some potate lasagne for dinner, was yummy
