Here’s a video of I’m from Barcelona playing Mingus, this is where they start throwing the balloons and confetti all over the place. Last week was quite a crazy week, this week I’ll be seeing 4 shows in a row! Slightly scared of the consecutive number of gigs I’ll be going to but hopefully I’ll power through! Almost december folks! Will write a lovely post about sending stuff! But for now, just treat this video as a gift
So this isn’t the first time I’ve seen Shearwater play live. I saw them in September when they were playing at Bush Hall and thoroughly enjoyed it, it was so good that when they announced that they were playing in St Giles in the Fields, I immediatly booked tickets to see them once again. I knew that venues play a key ingredient to the sound the band makes so seeing them play in a biblical church just bumps their awesomeness (more…)
Just a taser video of Jeffrey Lewis live documentary about the history of Rough Trade at Brixton Windmill, you’ll notice that I’ve been quite busy lately with gigs and all, I also need to sleep early because I have an important presentation to do (eeep). Still have Shearwater and Jeffrey Lewis gigs to blog about, not to mention meetups and whatnot with friends and all
Visit rough trade, it’s an awesome record store
Dear Mr / Ms Seat C42,
You probably don’t know me but I know a little bit about you, you had purchased a lovely ticket to see Guillemots play at the lovely Barbican Hall on Wednesday 26th November, you had booked seat number C42, it was the second row of the hall and had an amazing view of the band, the problem was that you weren’t able to attend the gig, which is a pity because the gig was amazing. Hopefully this letter will fill you in a bit more about the gig which I happened to attend coincidently.
Man oh man what an amazing evening. Originally I was going to get some rest after two gigs in a row but I’m simply too pumped and buzz to goto sleep so I decided to go fix my internet (involved using the spare router and doing some ninja work), upload my photos and blog about this amazing event before I goto bed. I’m From Barcelona are a swedish pop / rock band containing 30 band members (just picture the number mass of polyphonic spree but without the white robes and the mind games). Their lyrics are about waking up late for work/school to randomly building secret tree houses. I was recommended this gig and after tonight I am confident to recommend the gig to anyone and promise they’ll have all the fun in the world.
Here’s a fruity bonus video of Andrew Bird playing one of his new songs, “Natural Disastre”
You’ll notice that youtube have recently gone widescreen on us, not to mention you can now actually watch videos at better resolutions which is neat (i’ve upped the resolution on this one with a url hack so hopefully you can appreciate it more )
More updates on interweb, still not sorted out yet, not enough time to do fixes and due to crazy amounts of gigs in a row and lack of sleep after the gig. Hopefully everything will be restored on Thursday when I don’t have a gig to goto. But yeah, enjoy the video.
mmmm the Canon 5d Mark II has been spotted in the wild, me wants *licks lips*
Teehee I love this film, I just saw it again today since I felt the need to watch a film to unwind from all the crazy gigging, next up, three more gigs in a row! Jeffery Lewis, I’m From Barcelona and Guillemots (most will probably know Guillemots). I still have yet to blog about Shearwater but I guess I’m letting the Sigur Rós gig settle in a bit hehe.
Some other news, my internet is currently borked since somebody tripped over the phone line cable so it needs replacing. no idea when it will be fixed (since i’m not in the house much after work (gigs and all)) so it’s kind of tricky haha. i guess it’s god’s way of saying i need a break from the interweb anyway i’ve got books, photos, music, videos and blog entries to write offline so it should be fine (plus I can occasionally go online with my mobile if i felt like it), just don’t expect any photos for videos uploaded for a bit (a bit = 1 day – 1 week i’d say). Feel free to write me emails so I can write from time to time
Now don’t get me wrong, the Sigur Rós gig was amazing, the location of the venue wasn’t (more on that later on). I don’t think I really need to introduce Sigur Rós here, I’m sure it’ll be just as silly as saying “hey, this band is called radiohead, they did this song called Creep and were called “On a Friday”. All my gigs I’ve been to as of late are usually under £15 which makes mass booking ok (mmm mass booking), Sigur Rós was about £30 but was one of the gigs I’ve never seen before but wanted to see before I die. After a painful travel to the Palace of Doom I was finally able to see them and they were out of this world! (more…)
