Now I'm looking at the nehalem 8-core MacPro. It's a bundle, especially since I'll be getting a new display with it (24" or 30"). Except for the ATI video card, I'll be buying the 2.26 bare bones and upgrading as I go along (hardware and software) in order to spread out the hurt to my savings. Editing the mk II's RAW files on my current machine (dual 1GHz G4) is s...l...o...w (especially using DxO Optics Pro software -- highly recommended). The 5d is quite a technical handful. Two months into owning it, I am still moving up its learning curve. It looks like I'll have it all figured out about the time I move to a new mac -- which is one way to go about this.
