OH HAI! I CAN HAZ EMMY? No? Maybe a bag instead? Anyway, if you haven’t heard of Emmy the Great I urge you to go check her myspace and listen to a few songs.
I’ve recently seen her play a christmassy themed instore performance as well as at a bandstand busking recording, both of which were amazing. She has a quirky sense of humour (lolcat bags) and has a sweet gentle voice when she sings. Below is a video of her playing “We almost had a baby” at Pure Groove, she appended “jesus” at the end to add that extra christmassy feel.
During the bandstand busking session she did 4 songs (3 of which were recorded, the fourth was recorded by me) from her upcoming album First Love which can be preordered through Rough Trade (for a bonus live recording cd). She didn’t have a plectrum on her for the performance but I was able to provide her with one (always handy to have a plectrum) and for City Song she asked if anyone had a capo hehe. It was nice seeing performances that are totally acoustic, go sign up to bandstand busking if you wanna check other bands out.
Oh and she’s touring in the UK around february so make sure you pay her a visit

yeah that’s a function that disables crazy capitalisations, it’s not just for “OH HAI” mind :p
