Utada Hikaru – Simple and Clean

YouTube Preview Image

For those who don’t know, this song is from the game Kingdom Hearts, it’s called Simple and Clean in English and features jpop superstar / tetris goddess Utada Hikaru, last night I went on quite a Utada fest and downloaded loads of versions of this as well as Passion/Sanctuary, which is the song for the sequel of Kingdom Hearts. Utada explains that she likes washing up dishes hehe. I wish jpop superstars could tour London, but alas it’s only a dream, she is breaking into New York though which is cool.

St Vincent – THE blue and red outfit

Annie lets not wait (190/365)

After a fun browse at my flickr accounts, I’ve notice a recurring pattern in one my favourite artists, St Vincent, whenever she tours around the place…

She’s wearing the same top blue and red top! Rather than thinking she doesn’t believe in the launderette I’m simply under the impression that she just about 8 of the same outfit for when she gigs. Anyway, here’s a slew of photos, all taken from different photographers (who are amazing btw), you can include my one too from ICA (look up) too:

Funny how it was known as Canopies and Grapes for a looong time. Whilst looking at this I also noticed that Emmy did a Faye Wong cover! Awesome beans!

Emmy the Great at Queen Elizabeth Hall

Emmy the Great

Emmy the Great live at Queen Elizabeth Hall, this was a nice end to my lovely week of gigs. Emmy was super friendly (accepting random crowd banter and my ever so slightly lame question about latitude festival) and played a super long set (probably had more time due to other support band not turning up due to an illness). Emmy played a slew of album tracks, a cover of “End of the World” and a fest of oldie tracks including Canopies and Drapes, Edward is Dedward and The Hypnotist’s son (though that’s not THAT old). My favourite was probably First Love and WAHA Baby, though Dylan was toe tappingly ace too.

Emmy the Great Emmy the Great
Was definitely the best emmy gig so far, the addition of backing vocals and piano made the music more full and Emmy wasn’t particularly swamped with shows to play in a row like her UK tour. Check this video of them playing “We almost had a baby

Emmy the Great

I’ve got a horde of videos to upload so check check my youtube or vimeo account for more emmy goodness. Emmy releases a new EP with some of her oldie songs so buy them at the lovely guys at rough trade. She managed to play 3 of the 4 songs on the EP (I have two videos of the three :) )

Secret muser meets? (mmm meat)

United States of Converse

It’s pretty fun meeting musers, but at the same time it’s worrying how surprisingly similar they get, the same locations and faces everytime. The locations need to change a bit, we can’t eat nando’s everytime, play in funland everytime, sing in karaoke bars everytime, shop in cyber candy everytime etc. I think they can be as simple as having a meal and not get so lavish with these events that seem someone deja vu all the time.

Man it was weird when i wrote epic long posts about each day? Now I just don’t feel it anymore. Here’s two more photos… if folks are cool with the people shots I’ll post them up too.

Barnamint Baileys Uhm... rare?

Will still need to catch up on old posts, I’m gonna keep them nice and snappy :)

Time keeps slipping away

Another sunny day (178/365)

Whenever I blog I always start thinking about this circle of living and blogging. Hhow you should have it balanced for you to blog much as you can live. But what if you get to that point where you’re living and you’re running out of time to blog? I suppose this is what happens… things start slipping and it becomes harder to get back into the groove of things. I really enjoy writing here and though I don’t know who really reads it, I enjoy knowing the fact that some of you do read it.

Anyway, I’m hoping to get some more “me” time from all this hectic gigging I’ve been taking up. Not to say I’ll be lounging about and whatnot, but I just need more time to focus on projects that require sitting behind a computer and tapping frantically away. It’s kinda good being in a position where you simply don’t have time to lounge about all day, but at the same time it’s frustrating knowing that each day is limited to how long you can stay up without having those “i’ll just lie down and close my eyes” scenarios where you ultimately fall asleep with the computer on and everything.

So yes… first things first. Get some sleep. Hope you like the photo, it was taken near work :)

Bryan has wings tonight

of Montreal: BP Angel

Haven’t posted in a while but had to post this shot of Bryan from of Montreal! The lights were just epic :) Will do some blog catchups soon but yeah, flickr has pretty much become my micro blog type area (that and twitter) so catch me up there. I think blogging is becoming quite an archaic thing since people have such small attention spans that a full blog post would simply bore them..

maybe one or two liner entries are where it’s at, that or i should just do a photo blog with just dumps of the shows… sounds easier :p
