Bobbles of the crazy variety
Haven’t really been a gig that’s local to me, I was able to check out a charity event called Oxjam where bands were playing for support on Oxfam. Good cause and you get to listen to some sweet sweet music. Most of the bands playing were keeping it solo and unplugged, this was a great time to check out Alessi do a solo set.
Not long ago did I go see Gannets play live at Water Rats, this was literally the day after seeing Broken Records where I had to revisit the same venue. Now most folks wouldn’t recognise the experimental jazz band that is Gannets, and to be honest neither did I. I only went to see them because Fyfe Dangerfield from Guillemots was in the band too. So yeah, here’s a mini review of the show.
I have been recommended to go see Broken Records for quite a long time by Adam and John and finally I was able to catch them play at Mono Water Rats in Kings Cross. The 7 piece band certainly knew how to rock.
I’ve seen Laura Marling 3 times before this gig and each time they weren’t real headlines, either part of a festival or just a guest appearance playing up to 4-5 songs. This time I was able to catch her headline show at the Hoxton Bar and Grill where she’ll be playing a full setlist, supported by Six Toes and Polly Scattergood.
I managed to catch new wave swedish band The Sounds play at the Borderline, it was a sold out intimate show, previewing some more new tracks from their new album.
Well, this was what I bought, a Canon 5d Mkii. It is, in my opinion, the best digitial DSLR camera out there right now, packing all the best features for a DSLR camera including a meaty 21megalopixel count, amazing noise reduction, hd movie recording, full frame goodness, a decent 3.9 fps burst shot, live view, 3inch lcd screen with 900k pixel LCD and loads more packed in a tiny "compact" form factor. This camera will last me quite a long time and will provide an ungodly amount of flexibility to what I can do (including shoot those damn HD movies).
Well, I made sure the purchase was going to be nice and impromptu, my mum even warned my that I will be spending quite heavily this year which I can totally see why, I really have no self control when it comes to buying something I really want. Luckily I have saved quite a lot of money from the past so it’s not like I’m in super debt buying this.
Anyway, I’ve informed most of the people close to me about what I’ve bought and pretty much gave it away on my twitter feed if you’re following me on that so yeah. I finally bit the bullet of truth and purchased it, felt ever so anti climatic when I did it but I know it’s going to be the toughest two days ever waiting for the product to arrive in my warm welcoming hands.
I changed the tooltip using firebug by adding a nice “title” attribute to the link in case you were wondering if the checkout page actually had that when you hovered on the checkout button.
I’m expecting delivery either on Tuesday, if not I’ll just cry (because I’m getting it delivered to work and I will be on holiday on Thursday and Friday).
But yeah, I wanted to savour this one moment where I spent an ungodly amount of munny! It somehow didn’t pick up the £50 voucher I used so I’m a bit worried there 
Loading ...It’s like sophie’s choice but for geeks. After purchasing emmeee, I’ve had my mind set on buying some extravagant instead of focusing on the ickle things, so I’m stuck with 2 objects of desire, an Apple Mac Pro 2.26ghz 8 core desktop computer or a Canon 5d mk ii Full Frame DSLR camera. If you know neither of these products you might as well stop reading now.
