Tickets come in, photos come out

Tickets come in... (31/365)

February is going to be a fun month because it’s jam packed with sooo many gigs. I can’t wait! So many new bands I haven’t seen before. The highlights of the month will be Amanda Palmer, Howling Bells, Asobi Seksu, M. Ward and Emmy the Great (was going to list more, but then that’s not really a highlight is it? :P ).

The craziest week will be 23rd to 27th, 4 out of the 5 days will be going to a gig :$ I made sure I’ll have the thursday off because streaking is going to be tiring :( I know my fellow gig buddies anika and adam will be making sure they get a super long streak around that time though haha.

Expect loads of photos on gigs and reviews and whatnot. It’s going to be a fun and tiring month hehe.

Sky Larkin live at the ICA

Katie Harkin Sky Larkin Live at ICA (29/365)

Last night Anika invited me to see Sky Larkin play at the ICA, I’ve never been to ICA before so it was a totally new experience in there. The gig was pretty epic and I’m still recovering from how loud that venue was!

I Lost Weight! [27/365]

I Lost Weight! [27/365]

27th January 2009

Thank you, Yi Ting, for helping me come up with an idea for Day 27 :)

Well actually I thought it could’ve been a better shot but I have really zero mood to make it any better. I want to kick something. Ugh.

Oh and if you don’t get the photo, just ask, haha.

Credit Crunch Edition (23/365)

Credit Crunch Edition (23/365)

"Stop to think & question why
Before you wave your wealth goodbye"

Today I received a lovely package from the guys at Poketo, a new wallet, yay! I did this in my other poketo wallet but it’s pretty much worn out so I thought I’d do it again in the new one. The original label was placed over my credit card number so everytime I needed to order something online I had to read the label before taking the card out. It made sure I knew that I have thought twice on what I was about to spend. Since the economy isn’t going so well it’s probably wise for everyone to start saving up and ceasing all unnecessary expenditure, regardless of your job security.

Probably going to customise the wallet a bit more, but I’m not sure if it’s ready to go out of the street yet, my old one is still pretty ace :) . Anyway, hope this little life hack inspires you to do the same with your money. It’s easy to just hand money in or jam a debit/credit card in to buy that thing you thought you really needed but actually didn’t. So yeah, it’s a tough year, save up and think twice before you buy :)

Franz Ferdinand live at Rough Trade (19/365)

Franz Ferdinand live at Rough Trade (19/365)

Well that was fun, after a quick trip to Rough Trade to get the tickets at 10am, a nice day at work and a cold breezy wait outside the venue till 9pm, I was able to catch Franz Ferdinand play the secret special rough trade show. It was pretty surreal seeing them in an ickle venue. They only played new songs (aside for Shopping for Blood) and they were pretty fun. I got to hi five all of them at the end. Pretty fun show. The setlist was:

-No You Girls
-Send him Away
-Live Alone
-Bite Hard
-Shopping for Blood
-Ulysses
-Turn it on
-What she came for

The show was cosy and intimate with the odd crazy fan girl screaming around. The guitaring was nice and raw and the bass was thumping and funky to dance to. Very traditional Franz stuff I dare say. Couldn’t hear much of the synth action which was a shame, maybe from where I was standing or something. They hanged around for a bit and I was able to talk to Bob about cameras (he was filming us with his G10 camera he just bought yesterday bless). Well worth £3.50 that gig.
