Wolf Parade live at Electric Ballroom

Wolf Parade

Tonight I saw Wolf Parade live at the Electric Ballroom in camden. Originally they were playing at Kings College but that got moved to Camden, both are pretty fine venues I hear so it didn’t matter to me much. The gig was jumpy, moshy, exuberant and crazy. I’ll promise I’ll keep this short! I keep saying I will but it always ends up in drivel!

Take off your shoes, take off my dress

Take off your shoes
“Don’t be so blue so blue my love
Take off your shoes take off my dress”
Regina Spektor, I Want to Sing

On another note, I totally forgot I had two tickets to Wolf Parade tonight (one for my friend Jason). I’ve been so used to going to gigs alone and whatnot and all I did in the morning was rummage through a pile of tickets I had and assumed one Wolf Parade ticket was enough.

So now it’s a trek back home to get the ticket and back to the venue. Though somehow I’m cool with it :) it’s about 2 hours travelling but that means I can listen to some Liam Finn (next gig) or Wolf Parade before the show starts as well as pick up another lens that I was sort of iffy in terms of bringing (but since Jason is coming I could ask him to smuggle it). So yeah, life is fun when you don’t stress too much over trivial things. Which kinda reflects the Regina Spektor lyrics I quoted. If things happen, let them happen, it’s all about how you react to it :)

I’m from Barcelona: Mingus

Here’s a video of I’m from Barcelona playing Mingus, this is where they start throwing the balloons and confetti all over the place. Last week was quite a crazy week, this week I’ll be seeing 4 shows in a row! Slightly scared of the consecutive number of gigs I’ll be going to but hopefully I’ll power through! Almost december folks! Will write a lovely post about sending stuff! But for now, just treat this video as a gift :)

Shearwater play cheeky gig in church

Shearwater

So this isn’t the first time I’ve seen Shearwater play live. I saw them in September when they were playing at Bush Hall and thoroughly enjoyed it, it was so good that when they announced that they were playing in St Giles in the Fields, I immediatly booked tickets to see them once again. I knew that venues play a key ingredient to the sound the band makes so seeing them play in a biblical church just bumps their awesomeness

A History of Rough Trade by Jeffrey Lewis

Just a taser video of Jeffrey Lewis live documentary about the history of Rough Trade at Brixton Windmill, you’ll notice that I’ve been quite busy lately with gigs and all, I also need to sleep early because I have an important presentation to do (eeep). Still have Shearwater and Jeffrey Lewis gigs to blog about, not to mention meetups and whatnot with friends and all :)

Visit rough trade, it’s an awesome record store

Guillemots live at Barbican: Dear Mr/Ms C42

Guillemots: Fyfe Dangerfield

Dear Mr / Ms Seat C42,
You probably don’t know me but I know a little bit about you, you had purchased a lovely ticket to see Guillemots play at the lovely Barbican Hall on Wednesday 26th November, you had booked seat number C42, it was the second row of the hall and had an amazing view of the band, the problem was that you weren’t able to attend the gig, which is a pity because the gig was amazing. Hopefully this letter will fill you in a bit more about the gig which I happened to attend coincidently.

I’m From Barcelona live at Scala

I'm From Barcelona
Man oh man what an amazing evening. Originally I was going to get some rest after two gigs in a row but I’m simply too pumped and buzz to goto sleep so I decided to go fix my internet (involved using the spare router and doing some ninja work), upload my photos and blog about this amazing event before I goto bed. I’m From Barcelona are a swedish pop / rock band containing 30 band members (just picture the number mass of polyphonic spree but without the white robes and the mind games). Their lyrics are about waking up late for work/school to randomly building secret tree houses. I was recommended this gig and after tonight I am confident to recommend the gig to anyone and promise they’ll have all the fun in the world.
