Andrew Bird – Natural Disastre video

Here’s a fruity bonus video of Andrew Bird playing one of his new songs, “Natural Disastre

You’ll notice that youtube have recently gone widescreen on us, not to mention you can now actually watch videos at better resolutions which is neat (i’ve upped the resolution on this one with a url hack so hopefully you can appreciate it more :D )

More updates on interweb, still not sorted out yet, not enough time to do fixes and due to crazy amounts of gigs in a row and lack of sleep after the gig. Hopefully everything will be restored on Thursday when I don’t have a gig to goto. But yeah, enjoy the video.

mmmm the Canon 5d Mark II has been spotted in the wild, me wants *licks lips*

Totoro Totoro! + Quick status update

Teehee I love this film, I just saw it again today since I felt the need to watch a film to unwind from all the crazy gigging, next up, three more gigs in a row! Jeffery Lewis, I’m From Barcelona and Guillemots (most will probably know Guillemots). I still have yet to blog about Shearwater but I guess I’m letting the Sigur Rós gig settle in a bit hehe.

Some other news, my internet is currently borked since somebody tripped over the phone line cable so it needs replacing. no idea when it will be fixed (since i’m not in the house much after work (gigs and all)) so it’s kind of tricky haha. i guess it’s god’s way of saying i need a break from the interweb anyway :) i’ve got books, photos, music, videos and blog entries to write offline so it should be fine (plus I can occasionally go online with my mobile if i felt like it), just don’t expect any photos for videos uploaded for a bit (a bit = 1 day – 1 week i’d say). Feel free to write me emails so I can write from time to time :D

Sigur Rós live at Alexandra Palace (of Doom)

Sigur Rós

Now don’t get me wrong, the Sigur Rós gig was amazing, the location of the venue wasn’t (more on that later on). I don’t think I really need to introduce Sigur Rós here, I’m sure it’ll be just as silly as saying “hey, this band is called radiohead, they did this song called Creep and were called “On a Friday”. All my gigs I’ve been to as of late are usually under £15 which makes mass booking ok (mmm mass booking), Sigur Rós was about £30 but was one of the gigs I’ve never seen before but wanted to see before I die. After a painful travel to the Palace of Doom I was finally able to see them and they were out of this world!

Sigur Rós say goodnight! (Taser shot)

Sigur Rós say goodnight!

Wow this was an epic gig, I don’t know how to describe it just yet so hold onto your horses and simply enjoy this taser shot for now! I’m really tired but will try and process these photos like a motherbitch for you guys to share :) But yeah, look forward to the slightly massive rant about travelling to ally pally, water fountain action, an abundance of confetti, and some good old CHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO (noone gets me :( haha).

Andrew Birds goes biblically intimate

Andrew Bird

Bird of the Andrew variety (on the viomalin)

Last night I wrote on my twitter “mmm biblical gigs with sexy birds”. I meant exactly just that as I was watching Andrew Bird and Wood Pigeon play at a church. For those of you who don’t know Andrew Bird, he’s an american singer songwriter, he uses a wide variety of musical instruments including guitar, violin and the lost arts of whistling, strangely I describe him as Regina Spektor with a penis (and no boobies) and lots of loop machines (oh and a violin), though a better comparison would be Sufjan Stevens or M. Ward. Last night he played a very intimate gig at the lovely St Giles in the Fields church (where Emiliana Torinni played). The acoustic of these gigs are always remarkable so it was definitely a gig to see (it was sold out for two dates). Fortunately this entry will be a short one because not too much happened tonight.

Moo Mini Cards: Perfect way to say hi!

Moo cards

Moo mini cards!

Hopefully you’ve all read the October summary post, life has been pretty hectic, I’ve met quite a lot of new people when I go out gigging and it’s come to a point where I thought, “hmm i best get some business cards going on”. Now I already have a work business card but that doesn’t have my real mobile or any relations to what I do outside work and whatnot, so it’s a bit useless when I go out gigging (unless I’m actually meeting a bunch of crazy assed coders who work in the same industry as me where networking wouldn’t be such a bad idea). This is where moo cards come into play.

Howling Bells: Into the Chaos

Howling Bells: Clap your hands

Juanita says GO DOWNLOAD OUR NEW SINGLE!

I’ve heard this song 350+ times in the space of a few days :$. You can download it for free if you register at www.howlingbells.net. Their website is a bit tacky (content management system sucks) but it’s all about the free stuff innit. It’s a nice taser of what’s to come of Howling Bells’ next album which is due to be realised on February 2009 (so much waiting involved :( ).

They’ve released this in 7inch format (rats, who still uses it :( ) which includes the B side “The Spirited Ones”. I’ve heard a snippet of that and it sounds pretty lush too, just annoyed I can’t hear it properly because I have no vinyl recording facility or vinyle player :( . So yeah, you can buy it in cute independant record stores like Rough Trade or just order it online. Let me know what you think. Look! Small post! No click here to read more stuff, will be writing about Mercury Rev soon, though don’t expect much from that one either :)

Splash of October Swimmer (Summary)

A splash of October Swimmer

Crazy calendar updates!

Time flies at a ridiculous rate when you’re busy. Already we’re in mid November and getting ready for the start of Christmas, winter coats, bankruptcy, roasted poultry, mind games and the lovely end to a crazy and eventful year. When peering at my Google Calender, I quickly skipped back to the previous month to see what I’ve been up to and boy was it a crazy month, though you’ve probably noticed that already with the sudden abundance of blog posts ;) Since October was such an amazingly packed month I thought I’d write a big fat summary post of it all, kinda like a catch up post for those who check less frequently or for those who’ve just started reading. So yeah, lets rewind the tape and go back to first of October, 2008, no idea if you can click on all the links but I’ll take my time to link up to EVERYTHING so it all makes sense!
