Ben Weaver live at Rough Trade East

Ben Weaver

Today I went to Rough Trade East to check out Ben Weaver. He’s a country singer-songwriter as well as poet. His lyrics were witty and poignent. I loved his deep bassy voice accompanied by the crispy sound of the banjo (and acoustic guitar but I only caught one song with that). He previous performed at the Luminaire which Anika attended and wrote a review for and it was nice seeing him play a few tunes at the Rough Trade. At one point he joked around about how the place has a lot of big rats (eep). Like all instore performances, it was short and snappy. I left the store (after some browsing) feeling pretty chuffed that I saw him live.

I like it! My shots at Rough Trade are always really……colourless. But not completely colourless, as you would have a hard time seeing them.

:( It isn’t when the lights are up! Sometimes they’re really low. For Abe Vigoda they might as well have been off completely.
