Tonight I saw Lisa Mitchell play at the Borderline. I arrived late since i had stuff to do at work, was too lazy to do the whole smuggling malark and ultimately they took my camera away.

I have been smuggling taking my camera to gig for over 2 years. There have been some crazy moments, nearly getting caught with it, getting caught in the middle of it and having to delete my photos (only to recover them back home), all sorts of crazy stuff. It was crazy how at the end of each gig I managed to somehow get a photo taken for that gig. These days it’s all photo passes but looking back, it was just crazy knowing the things i did to smuggle haha (still not sharing all my details.. just in case haha).

Anyways… the year before wasn’t exactly a “challenge” or a requirement to take a camera to the gig, but it was always more interesting to try, and when i was doing 365 last year, it was “critical” that I took a photo of the gig I went to (because I didn’t have much time to take photos of anything else). So last year was quite an intense one. Fortunately I somehow managed it each time!

Anyway, a few friends have asked me would i pick the show or shooting the show as my number 1. I hesitated for a bit, but my answer was definitely the show, the hesitation somewhat came from the 365 motivation of ensuring you have a photo taken each day (and i wanted to make sure each photo summarised the day, so a gig in the evening usually was it). Now that I no longer am doing 365, it was only a matter of time when I had to stop. So yeah… feels weird. But at the same time opens that restriction i have when i goto gigs (yes i groan a few times when i dont think ill be able to sort myself out with a photopass haha).

So what does this mean to you? NOTHING! Man I keep making my posts goal orientated for the readers, like why are you reading it? But as I promised, more ramblings now. I probably won’t ever catch up to any gigs I’ve shot lately so you just have to check flickr out to know what I’ve been up to!

Oh and i just realised tonight wasn’t the night i didn’t have any photos for a gig, the Antlers was another one, though this one I did take a lot of photos and videos (brought my gorillapod with me) but my memory cardz failed on me turning videos and photos into unusable files, grr.
