Zavvi closing down 22 stores today!

Poor Zavvi

Zavvi, the music retail chain store that bought Virgin Megastores, has announced that it will be closing down 22 stores in the UK, effectively rendering 178 staff members redundant. They will also be doing 50% sales on all remaining stores tomorrow in order help out on the situation, but situations sounds dire, chances are this could be liquidation stock :( Though i’m usually an avid HMV shopper I still loved Zavvi, hopefully some miracle can happen to save the company.

Yeah they just closed the Virgin Megastore near me, sad but awesome at the same time. Bought a ton of DVDs at around 50-70% off, including Whisper of the Heart, which I finally watched and totally loved, heh.

I’m going to miss the presence of a ‘record shop’ at the picadilly circus building (formerly Tower Records, then Virgin, then Zavvi)! :(
