Man it’s been a while since i sat down and recorded some music. Today I just felt like playing the upright bass on garage band (because i dont have a real upright bass, neither can i play one hahah) and felt like doing a song most unsuiting for it. Unnatural Selection. So yeah… did some more layers over it, everything except the damn classical guitar took one take (keeping it lo-fi baby). I should really learn the melody before launching into a recording! It’s pretty hilarious how I guess most of the notes. But yeah… cover ahoy, thought I’d add a pretty photo of Muse live at o2 too.

St Vincent – Paris is Burning

St Vincent at ICA

St Vincent live at the ICA. Hey look, an old photo i found lying at some run down hard drive avenue (or something metaphorical and deep about run down places for digital photos to dwell in). That show was still all kinds of awesome, was looking at videos i took a few days ago and stumbled on one of her playing Paris is Burning which we didn’t get when she was supporting Grizzly Bear. I haven’t heard a full band version of this, but it sounds ace solo anyway which she did at the ICA, so yeah, enjoy the video :)

Fionn Regan at the Luminaire

Fionn Regan

Fionn Regan live at the Luminaire. It’s been a while since Fionn’s released a new album so it’s nice to know that we’ll be getting one at 2010. He played a few new tracks at the show as well as gracing us with some old’uns. Really lovely night, fans were very into it, including the row of ladies at the front :) Got two videos which will upload at some point, in the meantime check out the photos:

Andrew Bird at Union Chapel

Andrew Bird

Andrew Bird live at Union Chapel. This was the third time I saw Andrew Bird play, this time he was going solo with his loop pedals. I had a nice debate on whether Andrew Bird was better solo or with a band, i preferred when the band was there since it gives it more texture but after seeing him play at Union Chapel, I think the best way to put it is that it depends on the venue, for a beautiful venue like Union Chapel with amazing reverb, i think he sounds better on his own. Andrew Bird was charming as always, commenting on how the crowd in England usually love heckling (which provoked some fun heckling). Spinny and Monkey made an appearance so yay. Moar photos, will be uploading videos at some point.

The balance of gigging and blogging said gigs have well and truly turned for the the worse. Alas, time is always against me :( Even when i’m in holiday mode I feel like i’m running out of time!

The shot was from Green Park :) Hopefully ill do more blogging tomorrow (after seeing Andrew Bird tonight)
